I’m still not over this, and here’s why: for everyone else, the walking stick would have been a symbol of Rumple’s cowardice. It’s a constant reminder of what he did to escape the war. But, by using it to mark Bae’s growth, Rumple made the stick into a constant reminder of why he ran—so he could be there as his son grew up.
